Working Sessions

I'm opening up my calendar for short, targeted, outcome-driven working sessions on your gnarliest accessibility challenges.

Generated image of Derek (mid-torso and up, facing to the left) sitting at a dark wooden desk, looking at a blurry screen on the computer, engaging in a remote meeting session. Derek is smiling and has whiteboards in the background, pads of paper and pens on the desk, with a mug.

Maybe you keep revisiting the same accessibility issue over and over. Or maybe you're working on a bigger picture accessibility strategy and you want feedback on how you plan to measure progress and report to senior leadership. Or... maybe you need an expert-level second opinion, or someone to ideate with.

Those are the kinds of hands-on problems that I simply love to work on. Really specific, really juicy outcomes. I'm right there with you... elbow to elbow, getting it done.

I'm bringing back what I used to call "clinic sessions" -- something that only enterprise clients could get... bundled in with 5 and 6-figure engagements. These sessions are always super productive because we focus on ONE really well-defined outcome. Some examples:

  • Make a decision about how we'll approach focus management in the next iteration of widget A
  • Review the latest user testing report or accessibility audit for Product Q and choose the highest priority actions
  • Identify the best partners in the company to design and execute a pilot program.

I've met with a lot of people this year that asked me how they could get my help on a "casual" basis, on exactly these kinds of challenges. I've been quietly offering that to them, and it has gone very well:

I've got a process that helps us get really dialled in so that we know what the session is for and what outcome we're driving to. I've found that almost all well-defined problems can be solved or moved forward in a 90 minute session. If I don't think we'll get there in 90 minutes, I'll let you know, and we'll come up with a plan. I keep these to 5 slots max per week, and no more than 2 in any one day.

At the end of the session I will follow up with a few things:

  • the recording of the session, including transcript
  • a written summary and action plan
  • one follow-up within 7 days: based on your next steps, send me one thing you worked on, and I'll review it and share my feedback

$375 USD

No procurement; no account exec trying to upsell you into a multi-year subscription; use your credit card to book, and we're on our way. Super simple.

AND. I will fully guarantee the session. After the session, if you don't feel it was valuable, you'll have 7 days to let me know and we'll decide either another session (on the house) or a full refund.
