Design Systems and Accessibility

You built your design system so every team could ship accessible products without having to think about it.

You want to know it's working: in every product, with every team, including the teams building with AI.

I know how components that pass every test can still add up to a screen someone can't use. Teams combine them, build around them, or ask an AI tool to fill the gaps, and someone using a screen reader still hits a wall. The fix belongs in the system itself, so every team gets it right by default.

How we'll work together

I start with the screens your teams actually ship. Then we work through it together:

  • Find where it breaks. Where real screens fail, and what your system and its docs could have done to prevent it.
  • Fix it at the source. We build the answers into your components and docs, so your teams get them without having to think about it.
  • Bring AI into it. Your teams learn where they can rely on AI tools to build with your system, and where they can't.
  • Show it's working. We agree on how to measure it, so you can show your leaders the system delivers.

You lead the work, and we decide together how much I stay involved.

Why me

Before going independent, I led Product Accessibility & Inclusive Design as a VP at Salesforce. Before that I held a C-level role at Level Access, and before that I built and sold my own accessibility consultancy. That's 27 years in accessibility.

I've helped design system teams at some of the biggest companies in the world, and a lot of them told me the same thing: "I wish we'd known this sooner." I've been making this case since my 2021 talk, Inclusive Design Systems.

If you're building a system or rebuilding one, let's talk while those decisions are still cheap. Book a call or tell me what you're working on.
